K.I.D.S.S. for Kids, Inc.

(Kindness Is Doing Something Special for Kids)

In 1991, ten people wanted to make a difference.

More than twenty years and $8 million later, K.I.D.S.S. for Kids has involved hundreds of volunteers to become one of the largest organizations contributing to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.   Focusing their philanthropy on the hospital’s Family Services programs, K.I.D.S.S. for Kids has enabled hospitalized children and their families to receive emotional, spiritual and social support.  These programs include art therapy, recreation, tutoring, preparation for medical procedures, family resources, culturally appropriate care, pastoral care, bereavement counseling and much more.

A Partnership That Enriches The Capacity for Healing

Our partnership with Family Services programs provides enriching opportunities for therapeutic play and socialization to children facing serious illnesses, introduces valuable educational support for hospitalized patients and offers emotional and spiritual assistance to the families of critically ill children – all in an effort to alleviate suffering and accelerate healing.

Most of these essential programs are not reimbursed by insurance. Our support enables the dedicated professionals of Family Services to meet – and in many cases exceed – the needs of children and their families.

Our mission is to ensure that these programs remain available
to each and every patient at Lurie Children’s.
